Racing Sweater Johnny's Junkyard

This cool Racing Sweater - Johnny's Junkyard follows the classic Racing Club Sweater of the late 40s and early 50s and is very pleasant to wear.
It looks great due to the comfortable fit and especially the awesome embroidery on backpart. It's really big and elaborated very well!

"One day I devised myself a plan that should be the envy of most any man" was sung by the man in black and the lyrics referred to the "Psychobilly Cadillac" that was put together from several parts stolen at the Detroit Assembly line.
"Johnny's Junkyard" may offer you the same service without stealing but by marauding through hundreds of classic car wrecks and pulling out whatever part you need to build your very own "One piece at a time"!
Bring your own tools.

The sweater is knitted very tight and extra voluminous. It has a collar with a zipper, which allows to wear the collar also as turtle/ polo neck.
The cuffs at sleeves are cut extra long. They could be worn rolled up or nearly as gloves - especially by using the designed openings for thumb. Three stripes at sleeves are contrasting bordeaux.
Take a look at the great and big embroidery on backpart! It's completed perfectly by the small embroidery on front.
Worn once - you just don't want to take off our new Rumble59 sweater ....!

The convincing details of the Sweater - Johnny's Junkyard at a glance:

  • Composition: 100 % Cotton
  • Colour: black with contrasts in bordeaux
  • detailed embroidery on back and front

History of Racing Sweater:
The racing sweater found its beginning in the 1920s and have been very popular up to the 1950s. The first sweaters had wide collars, high cuffs - especially at fore- and backpart: The cuffs ended nearly at waist. At sleeves the cuffs had a loop for thumb. The collar could be closed by a zipper which ended approx. at breast height - Like this the neck could be covered completely as needed. This warming cut was specifically adapted for motorcycle racing, which gave distinction to the racing sweaters.
Already in the interwar period the AMA (American Motocyclist Association) arranged so-called Gipsy Runs: Different competitions, free-style disciplines or hill climbs. At that time racing sweaters were offered in a wide range of colours. Those sweaters were used for promoting different clubs, sponsors or companies at every event. The hour of birth of the Racing Club Sweater!
Eventually the racing sweaters found its enormous popularity for several clubs at the postwar period. For a definite identification every member owned a sweater with his name on front and a club logo at back.
